What is Remote online notarization?

With remote notarization, a signer personally appears before the Notary at the time of the notarization using audio-visual technology over the internet instead of being physically present in the same room.  Remote online notarization is also called webcam notarization, online notarization or virtual notarization.

What can be notarized online?

Virtually any United States document that can be notarized in person, can be notarized using online notarization.    

Where do I need to be located in order to use your services?

You can be located in any US State or anywhere in the world using audio and video technology.  The document being notarized must be a United States document.

How long does it take to notarize something online?

A general notarization that only required one or two notarizations usually takes about ten to fifteen minutes (after the ID verification has been completed).  The ID verification usually takes about five to 10 minutes.

What kind of documents do I need for the ID verification?

In general, the following IDs are accepted:  US state-issued driver's license, US state-issued photo ID, US Passport book, Certificate of naturalization, foreign passport, Alien registration care with photo (green card or permanent resident card.

NOTE: Current constraints from credential analysis vendors restrict the use of Military IDs and Prisoner IDs (including dependent military IDs).

If you have recently changed your name and it no longer matches the ID you're using for identity verification purposes, you must provide a secondary ID that reflects your new name.  Your primary ID can have your former name as long as your secondary Id has your current name.

All secondary forms of ID must display your name (signer's name).

Acceptable Secondary Forms of ID May include:

Social security card, US Government-issued visa, birth certificate, Non-US/Canadian driver's license, most recent, signed tax returns, property tax bill, voter registration card, organizational membership card, bank/investment/loan statements, paycheck stub with name, most recent W-2, Home, car, renter insurance papers, recent utility bill.

What kind of equipment do I need to conduct a signing?

For the best experience, it is recommended to use a laptop or tablet with a minimum 13-ince view screen.  Some platforms are not optimized for mobile device use at this time, however many are and if you only have access to your mobile device, it can be done.  For multiple signers, it is recommended, but not required to use individual laptops as signers are recorded and need to be shown in the screen at all times.
